A spinning Reel is the most adaptable fishing reel that endures and is easy to use compared to others, just like a baitcasting reel. How to Put Line on a Spinning Reel seems simple enough while thinking about it. But it’s not as simple as everyone thinks.
Many things can affect the day out on the water. That’s why it is essential to learn how to spool a spinning reel for anglers. Fishing is the best way to unwind and relax, so don’t waste precious fishing time. If the Line gets tangled and twisted, then have a look!!!
There are many techniques and methods like ice fishing, fly fishing, and shore fishing, and all of them need proper fishing line installation on the spool to assure a successful catch.
How to Put Line on a Spinning Reel?
Here is the step-by-step guide, but keep in mind that if it’s a medium-sized spinning reel, use a braid. To go with braid, extended a little bit of mono on the revolution first, as lining. This will prevent the rope from moving on the spool.
Before starting, make sure the type of Line, is it spooling braid or monofilament line? The braid line is more expensive than the monofilament line, but it offers more accuracy. Moreover, the Braid line directly connects the fish and bait.
Using Braid with Mono
Yes, using monofilament backing on the braid is possible to save some money. But for the specific type of fish, just like King Mackerel, there should be all the lines that can get.
Remember: Always use braided lines when spooling.
Nowadays, many spinning reels come with ready-braid spools. Spooling old spinning reels is a bit critical to get the braid ready. Simply use some electric tape on it and make sure that it is wrapped evenly and adequately around the spool. Now the braid is ready to use, and it will not slip.

Instructions to Follow
Now, Let’s move to quick instructions on how to put a line on a reel. All the procedure doesn’t require any person around to fix it before getting started to spool a spinning reel, make some right decisions described below.
Setting Up
The first step is to assemble the rod to ensure all the eyes fill up, just as setting up for Fishing. Now take the spinning reel, inject it into the spool place, and bind it up to secure the spinning wheel. Be sure to check in which direction the revolution turns.
Matching the way of the Line and spool maintains the Line being spooled over the reel smoothly and will also prevent line twists. Unwind the Line in the same direction. It is winding onto the other.
Attaching The Line
To attach the Line, just grab the Line, whether it’s mono or braid, and gradually remove it from the reel. To avoid any line tangles and twists, Just draw around 10-15ft line from the spool. If somebody wants to use the mono backing on the reel, use mono first, then attach the braid.
Take the Line and attach it to the rod’s eyes, then start to join at the tip and end at the spool. Now open the reel’s bail arm to make sure the bail arm stays accessible even while tying the Line’s knot to the spool.
Remember Opening the bail arms is necessary. Otherwise, it’ll cut the Line, and it requires to re-tie the knot.
Tying The Line
Tie the mono or braid line to the reel with an arbor knot. Make it tight, so it couldn’t slip. If it’s not ready, use electric tape and wrap it evenly on the reel before tying it.
Winding The Line On
In this step, all you need is a helping hand that could be your friend. Now set 2 chairs far away from each other, approximately 20 ft, and have a seat. One of them takes the Line’s spool and puts the screwdriver in the middle of the hole. Now, The screwdriver indeed allows the reel to turn around it.
Put pressure on the spool with a cloth to ensure that the Line goes tightly on the spool while the other person winds. Try to keep the same pressure level throughout the process.
Now start winging carefully and tightly on the reel, and don’t do it fastly.
Filling The Reel
Keep following the above step until the reel is full but don’t fill the spool with many lines as it can be a reason for unspooling the Line randomly. And also, make sure it’s hard while pressing the Line. If not, then go back to the above step and again fill it.
After filling it correctly, check it and cut the line from the spool but not at the reel, and then attach the leader. It will be perfect to use fluorocarbon lines for leaders.
Now it’s ready to go Fishing.
With this step-by-step guide, spooling a spinning reel is now relatively easy whatever is it braid or mono. The procedure is the same for both lines, but there are some tips for mono users covered in another article.
